Adult Sunday School



ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:15 -10:15 a.m. Each Sunday. Contact Jim Melough.

Toby Lewis will be leading a class based on a Ray VanderLaan video series on discipleship (meeting each week in Fellowship Hall).  Jn O'Neill will be leading a study of the book of Romans (meetinh each week in the main upstairs room in the Admin building). 

Calvin College January Series

Each year in January, Calvin College hosts world-renowned speakers during mid-day presentations from its Fine Arts Center.  Avery Street Church hosts a remote Webcast site along with over forty other sites around the U.S.  These one-hour lectures begin in early January at 12:30 PM and continues for 15-weekday sessions. Speakers cover a variety of topics from health, justice, music and the arts, faith and religion, and politics.   The January series presentation for 2020 will run from January 8-28.  For morei nformation, click January

Sonshine Ministry

Assistance in the form of meals, transportation, and visitations are provided as needed under the direction of the Diaconate. Carol Hulstein schedules the meals.


If you like to sing, come join the choir for rehearsal on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30. Contact John Drohan.

The Book Club meets in the Fellowship Hall on the 4th Fridays of September and October of 2019 and January, February, and March of 2020.

Women's Coffee Break

COFFEE BREAK: “WALKING WITH GOD IN THE DESERT” -- Monday Evening Coffee Break Bible Study for Women starting February 4 7:00-8:30 PM.  in the church fellowship hall.  From 7:00-8:30.  We’ll be guided by Ray Vander Laan (video) on an interactive journey with the Israelites after they left Egypt and discover how God walked with and cared for them in the desert (Exodus). Each evening will include a video presentation and time for small group discussion on applicable Bible passages and prayer. Refreshments will be served. COFFEE BREAK: “BECOMING A KINGDOM OF PRIESTS IN A PRODIGAL WORLD”- Thursday morning Coffee Break Bible Study, starting February 7, 9:30-11:00 AM. God gave the assignment to His people thousands of years ago: to bring "lost sheep" back into the love and safety of His kingdom. He said to become a "Kingdom of Priests," and put God on display to show the world what He is like. It's still our task today. Out to Lunch Bunch

Seniors (ages 55+) gather together on the first Thursday of the month at a variety of restaurants for lunch and fellowship. 

Man to Man

We meet Thursdays at 6:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall to provide men with an opportunity to study the Scriptures, learn to apply the Christian faith to everyday life, hold each other up, and have fun. Contact Jim Brownell, Bill Nelson or the church office for more information.

Men's Life

Wednesdays at 8:00 am to 9:30 am for a morning breakfast and Christian book discussion at Emerald's Restaurant (1735 Ellington Road, South Windsor) [Rt 30] to provide men friendships and spiritual growth. Contact David Van Deusen.


LifeGroups are small groups that foster our growth in God with each other within our Avery Street family. There are two groups available during the fall session, each with about a dozen participants, and are described below: Sign up at the LifeGroup table in the lobby  or by contacting Bev Kaldy in the church office (860-644-2731).
